Lima achieves historic rise in meetings tourism

In 2025, Lima hosted a record 72 international conventions, achieving one of the highest growth rates in the Americas.

Peru’s capital, Lima, continues to gain prominence in international tourism and is now positioned as one of the most attractive cities in the Americas for hosting congresses, conventions, and major events.

According to the 2025 International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) ranking, the Peruvian capital claimed second place in Latin America and third across the Americas, solidifying its standing as a modern, dynamic destination increasingly favored by business travelers and international event attendees.

As a result, Lima positioned itself as one of the fastest-growing cities in the international meetings industry, recording a 67.4 % increase compared to 2024 and hosting 72 international conventions in 2025. This remarkable performance allowed the city to surpass several traditionally established destinations across the Americas and reinforce its role as a strategic hub for global events.

Nationally, Peru achieved a historic record of 93 international conventions in 2025—more than double the 44 events hosted in 2023—representing a 52.5 % annual growth rate. Thanks to these results, the country established itself as the fastest-growing market in Latin America within the MICE segment, while maintaining a steady growth rate of 13.9 %, reaffirming its rising competitiveness and standing in the global meetings industry.

This major growth highlights how Lima has evolved far beyond a simple layover hub in South America. The city seamlessly combines world-class infrastructure, modern hotels, state-of-the-art convention centers, excellent international connectivity, and a culinary scene recognized among the finest globally.

All of this allows travelers arriving in Lima for a congress, convention, or incentive trip to extend their stay and discover a city filled with memorable experiences—from savoring world-class cuisine at restaurants with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, to joining group Peruvian cooking classes to master an authentic Cebiche or Pisco Sour.

The experience is rounded out by stylish rooftops perfect for taking in the sunset, Paso horse shows, museums and cultural centers that tell the nation’s story, and a vibrant nightlife that makes every evening unforgettable.

Beyond infrastructure, one of the factors most valued by international visitors is the opportunity to complement their professional agenda with unforgettable travel experiences.
