Important Events Hosted In Peru

Lima: a MICE capital city

Peru’s capital city is a standout locale for MICE programming that is sure to make an impression. Lima was famously the host of a European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean Summit (EU–LAC) and two APEC Leaders’ Summits at which several former U.S. presidents were in attendance. Lima will additionally host the 2024 APEC Summit.

Lima is also pro ud to have hosted the 2019 Pan American Games with 22,000 participants, the 2018 Summit of the Americas including 35 countries, and the second World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism in 2016, during which Lima gladly received 400 tourism and gastronomy experts from 40 countries. Before that, Lima welcomed the Annual Meeting of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in 2015 with 12,000 attendees, and the second United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2014 with 10,000 delegates from 195 countries.

This volcanic city has also welcomed the 32nd Inter-American Public Relations Congress in 2017 and the 13th World Heritage Cities Conference in 2015.

Cusco: a most iconic destination for international events

Planners have long turned to Cusco as an excellent event destination and gateway to extraordinary excursions like tours of Machu Picchu. Cusco was entrusted with the 2019 International Conference on Very Large Scale Integration, as well as niche programs such as the 10th World Potato Congress and 28th Latin American Potato Association Congress. Once the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco has been the city of choice for the 10th South American BirdFair in 2020, the 11th Latin American Arbitration Conference in 2018, the 9th Interamerican Scout Summit in 2017, and the Latin American Congress of Tourism Cities in 2016. Finally, and to add one more accolade, Cusco will proudly be hosting the Skal International Official World Congress in 2025, a meeting that attracts top executives of the travel industry.

Paracas: Exclusive destination for strategic meetings

South of Lima, Paracas is a desert hotspot for extraordinary wildlife and notable summits. In 2017, Paracas hosted the 7th Meeting of the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Group called Paracas their short-term home. Paracas has also facilitated the successful programming of the 10th Summit of the Pacific Alliance in 2015, the Annual Meeting of the Latin American Pediatric Research Society in 2014, and the city awaits more exclusive events to come.
